The Sunday Telegraph – Tim Walker *****
“Xavier is a good, strikingly handsome, all-purpose West End star, with a great voice. He seldom disappoints. I fancy that the applause he rightfully received for his first big number would have been a lot louder if it weren’t for the fact that discomfort prejudices punters against shows.”
The Telegraph – Charles Spencer *****
“There is a real fizz in her (Joanna Riding) relationship with Michael Xavier’s Sid, who, in one of the show’s wittiest and most touching numbers, Hey There (You With the Stars in Your Eyes), duets with himself on the office dictaphone.”
The Guardian – Michael Billington *****
“Michael Xavier as Sid is new to the production and his abrasive charm is well matched by Joanna Riding’s mix of gritty determination and good nature as the passionate Babe.”
The Times – Dominic Maxwell ****
“Xavier bewitches with his opening song. He holds the stage with ease.”
The Evening Standard – Henry Hitchings ****
“The engaging Michael Xavier brings a velvety ardour to Sid.”
The Stage – Mark Shenton ****
“Michael Xavier has it all – looks, voice, dance and height, which he uses to good comic effect.”
Timeout – Rachel Halliburton *****
“The show may be called ‘The Pajama Game’ but there’s nothing sleepy about a production that harkens back to Eyre’s legendary revival of ‘Guys and Dolls’.”
